MJ is the apartment of dusk. The light that enters at the end of the day crosses linen curtains and rests on natural wood, on stone, on aged brass — original materials that welcome the end of the Brazilian afternoon.
The project develops in the MAI Terraces building, in Curitiba, in a privileged position that rises above the street and opens to one of the city's most valued views: Parque Barigui. From this condition, the project establishes a fundamental premise — all spatial construction should start from valuing this landscape.
Developed for a couple with three children in adolescence and youth, the project takes on a multiple and personalized character. Each member of the family already has a well-defined identity, which is reflected directly in the private rooms, where individuality and personal expression take leading roles. In the social area, the challenge was to transform a complex floor plan into a fluid, functional space able to relate to different points of interest simultaneously.
The solution starts from creating a modular sofa as a central element that organizes the living room and allows multiple use configurations — directing the gaze to either television or the Parque Barigui view, while establishing connections with the balcony and dining area. The social area becomes the central point of the home, reflecting the residents' profile, which values gatherings, dinners, and shared moments. Even on an elevated floor, the project incorporates nature into the interior: a tree inserted at the heart of the social area creates a visual and symbolic reference point.
Completed in 2024, MJ articulates complexity and clarity across its 400 m² of interior. A space that responds to each resident's specific demands while building a strong, versatile social area deeply connected to Parque Barigui — apartment as ritual: from breakfast to nighttime silence, matter and view accompany those who dwell.
